What is gastric plication surgery?

Gastric sleeve plication weight loss surgery, also known as Laparoscopic Greater Curvature Plication (LGLP), stomach folding or gastric imbrication, is an innovative laparoscopic surgical procedure where the size of the stomach storage capacity is reduced to the tube-like shape using special folding and stitching techniques. The procedure allows reducing the size of the stomach by about 70 to 75% without removing any parts of the stomach or placing foreign objects in it. The technique can be described as creating a smaller pouch out of the stomach that can store less amount of food which helps the patient to eat less and lose the excess weight.
