What is fibrosis after liposuction?
Why is my stomach hard after liposuction?
Fibrosis is a common side effect of liposuction. It usually appears during wound healing, in the recovery period. Fibrosis refers to the imperfections that are formed in the liposuction area. They occur in the scar tissue, connective tissue, and/or parenchymal tissue and patients feel them as lumps which are hard and thick. Fibrosis is a pathological process which disturbs the proper surgical wound healing, so it is important that patients start MLD (manual lymphatic drainage) asap and continue to wear compression garments as recommended by a doctor. It is also a good idea to contact your doctor once you think fibrosis may have developed.
