How To Reduce Swelling After Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty swelling occurs in the tissues of the nose and face and will be more pronounced if there is a need to break the nasal bones during the operation. Swelling can be reduced in a number of different ways, however the post-op care instructions should always be adhered to. During recovery keep the head elevated, position it with extra pillows when lying down to prevent the blood pooling around the nose. A cold compress placed on the forehead or cheeks – 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off – is very effective in the first few days after surgery. Arnica cream applied topically has a reputation for reducing swelling and bruising. It is also important to stay hydrated and avoid alcohol.
