The question of open rhinoplasty vs closed rhinoplasty often needs to be discussed with the surgeon who will perform the surgery. Both techniques have their advantages, however, although scarring may be less visible, closed rhinoplasty does mean that the surgeon does not have such a good view of the area he/she is working on. On the other hand open rhinoplasty may have a slightly longer recovery time and more visible scarring. The operating surgeon must ultimately decide on the open vs closed rhinoplasty.
