İsmail Yaman

Assoc. Dr. Ismail Yaman is Obesity Surgery and Metabolic Surgery Specialist. He was born in Torbalı/İZMİR in 1977. He completed his medical education at Ege University Faculty of Medicine.

He completed his General Surgery residency at İzmir Atatürk Training and Research Hospital between 2000-2005.  He worked as a General Surgery Specialist at Manisa Merkez Efendi State Hospital between 2005-2009.  In 2005, he received a certificate of achievement in the Turkish surgical association proficiency exam.

In 2009, he started to work as an Assistant Professor in Balıkesir University Faculty of Medicine, Department of General Surgery, and became an Associate Professor in 2014. He has taught many undergraduate and postgraduate courses throughout his university experience. In addition, he has many national and international studies and these studies have received many citations.

He performed hemorrhoidopexy surgery, known as seamless hemorrhoid treatment, advanced laparoscopic (closed) surgical interventions while he was at Manisa. In Balıkesir laparoscopic hiatal hernia repair, laparoscopic large intestine resection, laparoscopic stomach surgery, laparoscopic hernia surgery, non-surgical pilonidal sinus (hair rotation) treatment, ERCP and advanced endoscopic interventions were performed by him for the first time. He has also been dealing with bariatric surgery since 2005.

He worked at Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine on advanced endoscopy in 2010 and on ERCP in 2014. He also served as a trainer on endoscopy and has a trainer certificate.

He is a member of Turkish Surgery Association, Turkish Colon and Rectum Surgery Association, National Endoscopic Laparoscopic Surgery Association, Aegean Region Surgery Association, İzmir Breast Diseases Association, Dialogue in Endocrinology Association, Endocrine Surgery Association. He served as the vice chairman of the Balikesir Cancer Control Association. Areas of interest; obesity surgery and metabolic surgery, stomach botox and balloon applications, laparoscopic reflux surgery, laparoscopic gallbladder surgeries, laparoscopic stomach and intestinal cancer surgeries, abdominal and inguinal hernia surgeries.
