How dangerous is BBL surgery?
BBL surgery has an extremely high mortality rate. In fact it is the most dangerous cosmetic surgery procedure. The current mortality rate is about one death in every 3,000 procedures. The biggest danger is that the fat may mistakenly be injected into a vein. This can travel to the heart and lungs causing a fat embolism. This can be fatal for the patient. The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) do not recommend full Brazilian butt lifts, only Superficial Gluteal Lipofilling. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons have also issued a warning to their members about this procedure.
