How to sit after BBL surgery?

The fat cells injected into the buttocks must stabilise, establish themselves and integrate into the blood supply. If you start sitting too early, thereby reducing the blood circulation in the buttocks, the fat cells will become damaged and die off.

For this reason you are advised against sitting down in the normal way for at least 3 weeks after the surgery. It is possible to start sitting with the aid of a BBL pillow after about 2 weeks. This type of pillow allows you to rest your weight on your thighs rather than on the buttocks.

When working in an office it is best to use a standing desk and avoid sitting down completely if possible. You should avoid driving for the first 2 weeks and after this, only drive short distances with the use of a BBL pillow.

There are some alternative sitting positions. The elevated butt position is where the BBL pillow is placed at the front of a chair so that the buttocks are ‘suspended’ at the back of the chair and weight is carried on the thighs. Another option is to sit ‘backwards’ on a chair with no arms i.e. facing the back of the chair. In this way the buttocks can overhang the front edge of the seat and again the pressure is taken on the thighs rather than the buttocks.
