What to expect after breast augmentation?

Breast augmentation recovery is not complicated or burdening when patients get prepared for this time and know what to expect. A few hours after the surgery, patients feel fatigue, soreness, and nausea. Patients are allowed to return home on the second day. Before they leave the clinic, a surgeon gives them post-op and aftercare instructions and schedules follow-up appointments.

From the very beginning of recovery after breast implants, patients need to wear compression garment (a special bra supporting breasts). The first week is the most difficult, patients may experience extreme pain, breast discomfort, swelling and bruising, tightness in your chest. They should get rest as much as possible, pay much attention to post-op care, and follow post-operative diet (with liquid diet for the first days). The good news is that from week 2, patients are getting back to normal, all the bad symptoms disappear, plastic surgery results become visible. After 3-4 weeks, patients usually return to their normal lives with a few post-surgical recommendations (e.g. wearing a special bra and avoiding strenuous physical activity).
