How to stop itching after breast reduction surgery?

Itching is very uncomfortable and problematic, yet breast reduction patients need to know it is very likely to appear. There are some tips to help reduce breast itching and/or breast nipples itching. They include:

  • exclude the allergy; itching may be a symptom of an allergic reaction to medications, tapes, bandages, herbs, or other used products;
    do not scratch or rub at the itching area – it may be really hard, but excessive rubbing can cause further problems (e.g. wound reopening), here frequent washing and proper cleaning can help;
  • apply ice compresses to alleviate the itching;
  • take antihistamines – it must be consulted with a plastic surgeon;
  • do not apply anti-itching creams or any topical ointment until the incisions are fully healed.
