What kind of bra to wear after breast reduction?

Just after the surgery, patients need to wear a special surgical bra. Later on, they can be replaced with well-fitted supportive or sport bras.

The types of bras that are available include:

• surgical bra – it is a specialized bra ma
• sport bra – it provides much relief, decreases discomfort or pain and restricts breast movement; it has to be perfectly fitted to fulfill its function – then, it is a good alternative to surgical bra;
• supportive bra (stabilizing bra) – it is made of breathable, soft fabrics, has front closure; it provides much compression and comfort and is recommended after breast reduction, breast lift or breast augmentation surgeries.

Patients should choose such bras which provide much comfort and support for the breasts. They cannot be too loose or too tight. It is best to try on various types of bras and choose the ones that fit best and are the most comfortable.
