How are dental implants done?

Your dentist will use special equipment to remove a piece of your gum and perforate a hole in your bone to install the screw, your gum will be put back in place and it will completely cover the screw for several months while it heals and gets properly integrated to your bone in a process called osseointegration, once the screw is healed, your dentist will install the abutment and on top of it, the artificial crown. In some types of implants, the abutment will be placed at the same time as the screw and you will only need the dental crown to finish the treatment. After this is done you will be able to use your dental implant as it was your natural tooth.
