How to clean eyelids after eyelid surgery?

It is important to keep the eyelids clean after blepharoplasty to avoid the risk of complications. Once the protective gauze and/or cotton pads are removed the eyelids can be gently cleansed. It is important to wash your hands before doing this to prevent contamination of the wound. The eyelid can be cleansed with a saline solution and sterile gauze pads. Simply dab gently at the eyelids, do not rub, and clear away any crusts and debris. The eyelashes should also be cleaned. Showers should only be taken from the neck down for about the first five days. Once full showers are permitted, washing your hair and cleansing eyelids should only be done with mild products like baby shampoo. Wet wipes and a soft washcloth can also be used under the eyes.
