How long is recovery after gastric sleeve?

Generally, patients get fully recovered about 4-6 weeks after the gastric sleeve procedure. Patients stay in a hospital for 2 days after gastric sleeve. Once they return home, they must follow a special diet (firstly only pure liquids are allowed, and gradually, more solid food forms are implemented) and keep active every day (even short walks are important). Regarding work, if patients have a sedentary job, they may return to work after a week, but if the job entails some physical activity, patients should wait 1-2 weeks before starting to work again. The other important aspects of recovery are:

• patients should not lift heavy things or do strenuous activities for the first weeks (it includes e.g. vacuuming or carrying children)
• patients should take the necessary supplements recommended by the doctor 
• daily care for the incisions
• any worrying symptoms (such as nausea, vomiting, indigestion) should be reported to the doctor.
