How is a labiaplasty performed?

Labiaplasty procedure involves the standard steps of a surgery, that is:

  • step 1: applying anesthesia – it is usually local anaesthesia with sedation, but sometimes, it can be general anesthesia; a patient is always informed about the anaesthesia type;
  • step 2: making incision lines – an incision depends on the labiaplasty techniques and types of labiaplasty;
  • step 3: making changes (e.g. labia trimming, labia shortening, excess skin removal, etc);
  • step 4: closing the incisions with sutures.

Depending on the labia problem, patients’ expectations and surgeon’s preferences, there may be different labiaplasty technique used. The most popular labiaplasty procedure techniques involve trim method labiaplasty (labia trimming), labiaplasty wedge method, and laser labiaplasty.
