What to expect after a labiaplasty?

After labiaplasty surgery, patients need some time to recover. It is important that they are aware of labiaplasty risks and possibility of post-surgical complications.

So, immediately after the procedure, the labia are swollen. Women should know that labiaplasty results would not come so fast. Applying cold compresses helps here. While urinating, there may be a stinging sensation. The swelling may get even more intense on the 2nd day. There may also be pain, skin numbness, bleeding, itching and discomfort. By days 6-7, swelling and pain should be getting less intense.

After the first week, the bad labiaplasty experience should be gone. Women start to notice benefits of labiaplasty, they see the effects (e.g. small labia) and get improved confidence / improved psychological well being. Women should be ready to return to most of their work, social and family duties after 2 weeks, yet they still need to be careful of possible labiaplasty side effects and follow all the surgeon’s guidelines.
