What is Plastic Surgery?

There are two types of plastic surgery:

• Plastic reconstruction surgery – which corrects physical abnormalities of the body often occurring due to infection, disease, trauma etc.

• Plastic cosmetic surgery reshapes and enhances parts of the body.

Plastic surgery or cosmetic surgery are often used interchangeably and the surgical procedures are both carried out by a plastic surgeon. However, cosmetic procedures may also include non-surgical treatments such as liposuction or botox and these are often carried out by non-medically trained staff.

Plastic surgery procedures are performed on many parts of the body from facial cosmetic surgery to vagina plastic surgery. Different types of plastic surgery include: breast plastic surgery, abdomen plastic surgery, jaw plastic surgery, ear plastic surgery and even scar removal plastic surgery.

This body surgery is not exclusive to women, in recent years male cosmetic surgery has become more and more popular.
