Any dried blood on the outside of the nose can be cleaned off with saline or sterile water on a cotton swab or cotton ball. Once the dressing has been removed the inside of the nose can be washed using a sterilised nasal aspirator bulb syringe device with nose washing salt water. Do not apply any pressure when drying. The surgeon may recommend washing the nose up to 6 times a day. Using an ointment like Vaseline or an antibiotic cream after washing the nose will help to prevent a buildup of dried blood.
