A tummy tuck does not really help in losing weight per se. This type of cosmetic surgery should only be carried out when the patient has a stable weight – what they would consider to be near the ideal body weight for themselves. Additional weight gain or weight loss could necessitate further surgery in the future. A more streamlined body means that clothes will fit better around the middle of the body and, due to this, a patient may expect a drop of two or three sizes. Weight loss is minimal, probably just a few pounds. However, a more streamlined body together with the size drop will give a more proportional body shape.
