Why do I weigh more after a tummy tuck?

Occasionally there may be a slight weight gain immediately after a tummy tuck when water is retained in the areas between the organs or in specific places like the hands or feet. Following post-op instructions and maintaining a balanced diet will help to remedy this fluid retention.

However, long-term, any considerable weight gain (about one stone/six kilos or more) will jeopardise the success of the tummy tuck. Thus, patients should maintain healthy habits and take regular exercise. Weight gain can be caused by stress, a hormone imbalance or lifestyle. Putting on an excessive amount of weight may require a tummy tuck revision which is more complicated and expensive than a tummy tuck
