How to get rid of breast lift scars?

Breast lift scars are an unpleasant side effect of the surgery. The good news is that an experienced plastic surgeon can make such incisions which are well-hidden in natural creases, however, patients must be aware of the fact that a mastopexy scar can be visible afterwards.

Naturally, scar breast lift fades over time, they become much less visible. However, it is a long process which takes months or years – breast lift scars 1 year later pictures show that scars may get even hardly noticeable at all. It is also possible that mastopexy scars after 1 year are still prominent, yet mastopexy scars after 2 years get much less visible.

Patients can apply some solutions to minimize mastopexy scars. Mastopexy scar treatment options include:

  • follow all the post-op instructions – a surgeon’s recommendations are particularly important and can greatly reduce the scars from breast lift surgery;
  • do not smoke – smoking can disturb scar healing, so patients who pay attention to the scars should avoid smoking for as long as the scar is fully healed;
  • protect the incision sites especially at the beginning of the recovery period; keep them clean and dry;
  • wear supportive bras as recommended;
  • avoid sun exposure;
  • try scar massaging – only with the surgeon’s approval;
  • use silicone gels or sheets;
  • if the fully healed scar is prominent, try some aesthetic procedures, e.g. laser scar removal.
